ŚMIG F-60 is a modern polymer adhesive designed for instant installation on the walls of all types of tiles and cladding. Flexible and frost resistant. Tiles can be adhered to all types of substrates. Its unique advantages can be observed on such deformable surfaces as chipboards or gypsum boards.
Colour
The main components of the F-60 adhesive are natural dolomite aggregates whose selection criteria are not the colour but the grain size fraction, hence the colour of each batch of the product may slightly differ – from cream to light grey.
Flexibility
A characteristic feature of polymer adhesives is their enormous flexibility, which is incomparably larger than most flexible gypsum adhesives. While gypsum adhesives formability of 5 mm is considered very high and is classified according to the class S2, which stands for highly deformable adhesives, the F-60 adhesive offers at least 3-fold deformability, which is more than 15 mm. Therefore, wherever the use of flexible adhesives is recommended, the F-60 adhesive ensures the highest performance in this area.
Work comfort
F-60 adhesive is ready for use immediately after opening the bucket. It increases significantly the comfort of use and saves the working time, which results from omission of a number of activities related to the preparation of cement mortar, such as: water pouring, dry mortar dosing, connecting the mixer to the power supply, mixing, re-mixing waiting time, mixers cleaning and finally cleaning up the mixers after work. This takes up to 10% of the time required by a qualified tiler.
Adhesion
F-60 adhesion measured after 14 days of aging at the temperature of 21-25ºC and at relative humidity from 45 to 50% shows a strength of at least 150% of the requirements.
Setting time
The adhesive setting time strictly depends on the pace the water evaporates from the mortar, which in turn depends mainly on the amount of adhesive used per unit area, the kind and moisture content, thickness of the joints as well as temperature and humidity. Adhesive setting process begins along the joint where the tiles are easily stabilized by mortar however the adhesive bonding time under the entire tiles surface takes much longer and depends, in most cases, on the tiles size and surface. At the temperature of ca. 20°C and with the use of a 4 mm smoothing float, the light load can be applied after about 48 hours, whereas the full mechanical strength of the surface is obtained after at least 14 days. NOTE: At the temperature below 8°C, the setting process does not occur at all. Despite evaporation of water from the mortar, an adequate internal cohesion and adhesion to the surface is not achieved by the product.
Open time
The open time means the time of delay from the moment the adhesive is placed on a tile until the tile is placed on the surface, maintaining adequate adhesion after setting time. Adhesives that meet the requirements of adhesion after open time of 30 minutes are considered as the “E” Class i.e. adhesives with extended open time. F-60 adhesive meets these requirements in 180%.
Resistance to water
Dried and bonded F-60 adhesive after a short immersion in water, e.g. when washing the tiles’ surface or as a result of the emergency flooding of walls, the adhesive does not lose its performance parameters. However, a long-term retention in water will affect the reduction of hardness and gradual reduction of adhesion. Strength testing after 14 days of immersion in water shows a significant grip reduction below the requirements.
